Altea is a platform that aims to improve the quality of life of people affected by Long COVID. Because medical knowledge about Long COVID is still limited, we want to use Altea to share the experiences and knowledge of people affected, as well as the specialist knowledge of health experts.
In the first phase of our development, countless Long COVID patients helped out behind the scenes to make Altea a platform that addresses the needs of those directly affected. Their contribution was important in helping us
- understand which elements are of interest and avoid those that may be “cool” but are irrelevant to our target groups
- understand which symptoms most affected people face and develop helpful vademecums on how to deal with these symptoms. (Please note that the vademecums are updated on an ongoing basis and we also welcome your input on topics that have already been published.)
- understand what helped affected people in order to pass on this knowledge
- understand the form Altea content should take
- accumulate general knowledge about Long COVID
- receive feedback on website content
- get to know and understand the personal stories of affected people
- learn about services, events and therapies relating to Long COVID and publish them in the directory and agenda
Last but not least, we would like to thank everyone who put the Altea website through its paces before its launch.
The experiences of affected people are a core element of Altea's work.
We would like to thank all the people who
- helped with the development of Altea
- invested a lot of time and energy in their work for Altea, even in difficult times
- will continue to be available in the future to help continuously improve Altea
- have shared their story with us, as well as all those who will do so in the future
- give us input and ideas for blog posts.
We are also grateful to everyone who shares their experiences with treatments and clinics with us and draws our attention to events related to Long COVID.
Hundreds of people have filled out the Altea questionnaire since the beginning of the year, helping to design the platform in line with the needs of users.
The Altea team would like to thank the following people in particular – they have supported us from the very beginning:
- Brigitte Post, who shared her story with us and told us about University Hospital Bern’s use of artificial intelligence in lung analysis
- Yvonne Faller for her story and her determination to get the help she needs to get better
- Ramon Crosina for his story, which he tells to raise awareness of Long COVID among young people without a pre-existing condition
- Angelina Brubpacher for her work to educate people about Long COVID in children
- Dr. Erik Kötter for sharing his experience as a doctor and patient
- Sandra Bigai for her strength and for showing us how long Long COVID can last
- Daniel Steiner for calling for the medical community to act, which both motivates and challenges us
- Wolfgang Gerteisen, who courageously told us that he would rather not give an interview, because in this moment when he is better, he is concentrating on staying healthy and feels that it hardly helps him to talk about the past
- Chantal Britt and Florence Isler for their contributions to the expert body on Long COVID and Long COVID patients
- Virginia Ebnöther for her support in the background and in drafting the press release
In addition, there are many people who want to remain anonymous. We would also like to say to them: thank you!
